Alex and Shana's Wedding.

Esther catered for another wedding this past Saturday as the oldest daughter of some close friends got married. We've known her family for years and years, and we got to meet her fiancee this Spring. We were delighted to be able to serve them by preparing and serving the meal.

Shana's new husband is from Mexico City, so the wedding and reception had a strong Spanish theme through it!! Several of his Mexican relatives had come to Kansas for the wedding, and many of them knew very little English. It was neat to see the years of our Spanish classes in home-school come into play as we found we could communicate with them fairly easily!!

Esther, Tabitha, Moses and I traveled to Kansas City early Saturday morning to begin preparing the food, most of which had to be made fresh the afternoon before the wedding. The rest of the family arrived for the wedding later and then they all pitched in to help get everything completely ready and ready to serve to roughly 175 guests!! It took the whole family to serve the meal, between keeping food hot, new platters filled as they were needed and making sure the serving tables were well supplied!

It was amazing to see how the Lord answered prayers... from being able to find just the right supplies at various stores without fruitless searches, to being able to get the directions smoothed out with minimal hassles after we got lost, to giving us girls strength and endurance to run on 4 hours of sleep for a 22 hour day, to helping our younger 4 be able to sit quietly while the rest of us served the meal, and a host of other small and large things!!

Noah-- here's the pictures you've been dying to see!! Esther did a splendid job, didn't she?!?!

Moses making delicious wraps.
And yes, they tasted just as good as they look!!

Arranging platters.
And after a long day, Moses took a much-needed nap-- under the serving tables!! :)

Only 300 more to go!! :)
Concentrating very hard!!

The finished product!!

Tasting limes-- gotta love those expressions!

Ready to serve.
The table loaded with the meal!!

Delicious stuffed mushrooms-- mmmm!!

Fruit Boat.

Pasta Salad.

Cream Cheese Ring (made by a friend of the bride).

Decorations on the table.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Alex Dominguez!!

God Bless you as you begin your married life together!!

July in Our Home.

The past few weeks have been extremely busy for our family as Dad and Seth's summer work schedules hit full swing and the garden produce starts pouring in and keeping us all busy on the home front!! And in the midst of it all, we all miss Noah terribly, and treasure our conversations with him!!
When Scott and Lydia were up, we spent one morning butchering chickens. Ellie, Lydia and Joe came to help, which was a huge help!!

We were thrilled to have Scott manning the plucker once again--- not to mention laughing over his ever-ready jokes!! :)

Esther and Lydia.

Joe helped the boys catch and hang the birds!

Reading Books.
Silas LOVES corn on the cob!!

"Take a picture of me!!!"

"I think Aunt Phoebe's sunglasses look better on me!!"

"I love Papa and Nana's house-- I get icecream!!"

We also went blueberry picking while the Ansons were visiting Paul stayed home with Daddy while Mommy, Marcus and a host of Uncles and Aunts went picking!! We came back with several pounds-- in our buckets and in our tummies (right, Ellie??)!!!

"Look at all these blueberries!!"

Aunt Tabitha and Marcus!!

After blueberry picking, we stopped by friends' house to pick corn they had generously offered us (thank-you!!)!! Micah's bag broke, so he found a creative way to carry all he picked out of the patch! :)

Onions from our garden!!

Esther and Ellie snapping beans.
Lydia made blueberry pancakes for the birthday girl!!

Phoebe had a birthday water party/tea party this year, since Noah wasn't here to celebrate their birthday together (their birthdays are on the same day). A handful of young ladies in our area came to make her day so special!

Water balloon toss!

A fun water game!

Tasty Tea-Party Treats!

From her fantastic cooking, to her ability to make us all laugh at any given moment, we love this sister of ours!! What a treat it is to have her still at home with us!! It may be reading books to Silas, or taking a long walk with me, tickling Seth or playing football with Moses and Micah, she makes it a priority to spend special time with each of us. Happy Birthday, Noah!!

Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do,
Do not wait to shed your light afar,
To the many duties ever near you now be true,
Brighten the corner where you are.

Brighten the corner where you are!
Brighten the corner where you are!
Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar;
Brighten the corner where you are!

Just above are clouded skies that you may help to clear,
Let not narrow self your way debar;
Though into one heart alone may fall your song of cheer,
Brighten the corner where you are.

Here for all your talent you may surely find a need,
Here reflect the bright and Morning Star;
Even from your humble hand the Bread of Life may feed,
Brighten the corner where you are.

Happy 18th Birthday, Noah!!!
We are so glad you are our brother!!
We are so grateful for your relationship with our Heavenly Father, and for going where He sends!! We miss you so very much, and can't wait until you come home!!

WE LOVE YOU!!!

Please join us in wishing Noah a very happy far-away-from-home birthday!!
